The Carpe Diem/Girasole Ride is a fully supported premier cycling event that benefits the Paul R. Nardoni Foundation and its fight against cancer.
The ride was organized by a network of volunteers with strong ties to the business and civic communities in central New Jersey’s Hunterdon County. They are professionals and entrepreneurs dedicated to using their business skills and connections to sustain strong and vibrant communities to live and work in.
The ride organizers are experienced fundraisers and experienced riders. Capping a long history of personal rides, John Quirke and Joseph Campisi, the Ride Coordinators, know what it means to stage a fully supported ride, and they will provide you with a ride that exceeds your expectations.
"Starting in 2003, Joseph became very involved in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Tour of Hope®, both in connection with the national (cross country) ride and the Washington, D.C. finale. He was a finalist for each of the 2004 and 2005 Tour of Hope national teams (with the benefit of riding on two occasions with Lance Armstrong), and was a "Top 10" national fundraiser for the event in 2005. His involvement with the Tour of Hope led him to being one of the organizers of this ride and in addition to these efforts he continues to ride in a number of fundraising rides for the benefit of organizations involved in the fight against cancer."

Ride Services will include:
- Volunteers spotting major turns to guide and cheer you on your way.
- Rest stops at roughly 20 mile intervals along the routes, fully staffed by mechanics.
- Food, water and “comfort” stations at rest stops.
- Stand-by medical staff for any emergencies.
- Sag wagons sweeping each of the four ride groups available to pick up anyone who needs assistance.
- A festive start and finish at Frenchtown’s Old Frenchtown Field near the Delaware. Start times will be staggered with the goal of everyone finishing at the approximately the same time.
The exhilarating experience of a great ride is enhanced by providing participants with an opportunity to make a difference to people who need their help. To that end all proceeds from The Carpe Diem/Girasole are donated to The Paul R. Nardoni Foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
The Carpe Diem/Girasole Ride is our way of joining the fight against cancer. Even more, this ride is a celebration of our loved ones, our friends, our neighbors, and our co-workers who have personally taken on the fight. It is a thank you to everyone who has lent their support—however big or small—to make a cancer patient's life better. It is a living memorial to Paul Nardoni, and to all of our family and friends, who taught us what it means to love life and seize the day— every day.
